After three years, the UST Psychology Department held their first onsite event, “PSYaan Ba ‘To Patungo: The Life After College at the UST Medicine Auditorium” on February 27, 2023, from 1:00PM to 3:30PM with UST-College of Science psychology students from all levels.

Dr. Karen Katrina V. Trinidad, PhD, RPsy, CSCP shared in her opening remarks that students must learn from the experiences of other people. The speakers, Mr. Eric L. Dimar, MA, RGC, RPsy, and Mr. Romelito Manuel D.S. Clorina, MA, RPsy, Rpm, primarily shared their knowledge on various opportunities and examinations that awaits the students after graduation.

Mr. Dimar presented “The Graduate: Preparing for a life after college,” which aims to inspire psychology students by sharing narratives from former students. The talk presented the first job of former Thomasians after taking BS Psychology in UST and their present occupation. Mr. Dimar also mentioned that they were no different from the students of today, since they too had struggles as a student. He placed emphasis on the fact that everything turns out well in the end despite having ups and downs in life. “Do your best at where you are now and learn as much as you can. You’re gonna be okay,” he added.

Mr. Clorina presented the topic, “It’s Not Over Yet!: The common Examinations after Graduating”, which tackled the different paths and tests that psychology students may encounter as they continue and finish their Thomasian journey. He introduced each of the common prerequisite examinations for psychology majors and gave tips on what to do before, during, and after taking the test. “Don’t aspire to just simply pass, achieve to do better,” Mr. Clorina stated.

A question and answer portion was opened so that students may relay their queries, and the certificates were awarded to the esteemed speakers. The UST Psychology Dance Troupe: Archetypes and the UST Psychology Talent Pool also gave special performances during the event.

“You, my students, are the future of a great path. I hope you have a glimpse of what lies ahead,” were the words of Prof. Rey Donne S. Papa, PhD to close the event.
