Under Our Shade of Blue

And in my head, the world was blue

I leaned on you, chills seeping through

That shade of blue, that night with you

We were in pieces, all shattered, yet blinding and true

We were all scattered, doe-eyed dreamers, not just one, but two

How did we blindly end up here?

Breathing deeply, catching tears

All those dreams we had, all those wants

Now have turned into a list of shouldn’ts, couldn’ts, and can’ts

Now have merged into a swirl of breakdowns, a bout of rants

In those deep, dark, defiant eyes,

Amidst storms where weariness lies

I saw the world in that small crack

Swirls of bright crimson, sunflower yellow, and midnight black

And by then, my love, my star, my soul has found its way back

The world will be as it will be

Your hand in mine, your smile with me

And right before the end, bells chime

We’ll race through nights, seeking thrill without caution, without rhyme

We’ll blaze through life, one heartbeat, or rather two, at a time
