Rain on Embers

Against the strong winds,
they said flaming embers
will only burn stronger.

But no one told me about the rain.
What started as drizzles of doubt
turned into a storm that put the flames out.

So here ends our campfire.
How do I rekindle the hearts I broke
when I left along with the smoke?
