Life is a Hidden Metaphor

Thump thump thump
Do you hear that rhythmic beating?
Listen closely, it’s there
Slowly breathing and living

Amid the depths of silence
A kernel of life has commenced
From blood and flesh intertwined
A birth of existence unwinds

Dainty little rose, who found herself lost
In the abyss within, amongst the lavish moss
How peculiar, was I blooming in dark frost
Yet endearing, was I, a spectacle embossed

Freedom from this chamber
Is a dream I sought to conquer
But I am a being the size of a bean
Whose presence the world awaits to be seen

Until the day the light blinded my little eyes
Was also the day I was brought to this world full of lies
Life twisted into an enchanting metaphor
For everything was perfect–too perfect to ask for more

But time, you are an hourglass
Sand-like memories unknowingly fall
A longing to make the moment last
Til’ everything shifts and gets stuck in the past

And people grow up in just a blink of an eye
You will bid your hellos, but most come from goodbyes
I assure you, you will stumble, fall, crawl, and cry
But remember this little bean–life is a trial of chances and tries

And someday the heaven’s stars you used to wish upon
Will turn dark and lifeless prior to the break of dawn
You will find yourself wondering, “Will I ever find a hand to hold?
Regardless, never wish for your story to be untold
