Multiple cases of symptoms relating to a foodborne illness were reported by attendees last night, December 13, during the celebration of Agape 2024 due to suspected expired food items according to the UST Red Cross Youth Council — Central Unit (RCYC).

Patients were revealed to have experienced dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) was notified of the incident last night and has acknowledged the incident. Meanwhile, RCYC — Central has yet to receive a confirmed diagnosis for those experiencing symptoms.

Crisis Director of RCYC — Central, Tobey Calayo, revealed that one of the suspected mediums of transmission for the foodborne illness was the allegedly expired food packs from Jollibee. The company is currently in discussions with OSA regarding the matter. Calayo also noted that this is the first such incident in their three years of handling Agape.

“The exact number [of affected individuals] is to be determined pa, however, I have urged our Central Board and Student Council to coordinate constituency check[s] among their constituents as they see fit,” said Calayo.

While the UST College of Science Student Council President, Kevin Karl Escosar, reported no cases from their college, the UST Health Services has been informed of the situation. RCYC — Central remains open to online consultations for those experiencing symptoms.
