The College of Science (CoS) started its tournament run with a commanding victory against the Faculty of Arts and Letters (AB), 25–21, 25–19, in the Thomasian Goodwill Games men’s volleyball opening match, held at the Quadricentennial Pavilion on Friday, November 8.

Lawrence Borra orchestrated the offense of the College of Science with his precise sets and lethal service aces to control the game and secure the win.

Science opened the first set with a strong 10–1 run leveraging on coordinated attacks and blocking. AB tried to crawl back into the game, slowly racking up points and taking advantage of the errors committed by their opponent to make it a 2-deficit set, 15–13. Both teams exchanged mini-runs in a tightly contested stretch trying to gain momentum until eventually, Science ended the set with four straight points, securing a 25–21 victory.

CoS gained more tempo in the second set to dominate with a 12-point lead, 18–6. AB, desperately making a comeback attempt, managed to close the gap to a 5-point lead, 22–17, before Science ended their attempt to triumph, 25–19.

With the new TGGMV season underway, the College of Science eyes a championship run, eager to make up for last year’s quarterfinal loss to the College of Rehabilitation Science.
