Spearheaded by the Psychology Society, the University of Santo Tomas held the launching for Psychology week at the Frassati Auditorium on February 19, 2024, with its opening mass presided by Rev. Fr. Louie Coronel, O.P., EHL, regent of the College of Science.
The UST Psychology Society invited Ms. Kay Vardeleon, MA, RPsy, Founding Partner of Childfam-Possibilities Psychosocial Services, to give a talk on โPromoting Stability and Learning to the Workforce: The Role of Psychological Servicesโ and provide insight for aspiring psychology professionals.
Prior to the Blas Lecture, Asst. Professor Marian M. Lagundino, MA shared a brief history of Fr. Angel De Blas, O.P. to lay the groundwork for the speaker.
Ms. Kay Vardeleon opened with an article from the American Psychological Association which states โWhat do people really want in their work? Meaning and Stabilityโ to further expound on what aspiring psychological professionals would have to face in the workplace. Furthermore, she expressed that Filipino workersโ meaning in the workplace is based on โmalasakitโ, ability to provide for their families, as well as learning through challenges in order to grow individually.
Before the talk ended, an open forum was held to answer the inquiries of the fellow psychology students and to provide insights for their future. Subsequently, the speaker was given a certificate of appreciation for her efforts in the talk.
